What's on your mind?

It's the last week of the semester and I only have a couple more finals and a couple more projects due. It's been giving me a lot of time to panic over the fact that I've never cooked a turkey before instead of over school. It also gives me time to remember the various social media platforms that I exist on and never use. This is one of them.

Much like Tumblr and my old LiveJournal, I don't really know how to use Dreamwidth. I mean, I know how to use it, I've just gotten so used to Twitter that the thought of writing big long blog entries about things is daunting and not exactly how I feel like communicating. Shrug.

I've been trying to work on playlists lately, specifically one that captures the vibe of the music that I've been really into lately, which is just weird queer folks with acoustic instruments singing about how much they love their friends, in the vein of Nana Grizol or Defiance, Ohio. Really, it's just making me realize how much I like those bands already.

You have good music taste. Why not use DW more? Lots of people would love to have you here!

Thank you! And from what I can tell, DW in general seems to be super fandom-oriented, and I don't really engage with fandom at all, or with fiction in the same way that most Fandom People seem to. Other than that, I don't know. The more I use DW the more cozy it feels, though. It definitely feels nicer than Twitter, at least.

I noticed that too! But if you add a bunch of people who write about normal journal day-to-day stuff it doesn’t seem too fandom obsessed.

I'm finding blogging is definitely a skill I need to work on. I'm sure it was easier when I was younger, but I second-guess more what I'm writing. Tumblr's reposting and Twitter's short brief format make it much easier to just write and go, whereas long format blogs definitely take more thought to write.
